Apple Watch arrives on April 24th starting at $349


Apple have already shared their details on the new Apple Watch, but what they left out all of those months ago was when, how much, and how long will it last. We finally have all of the information. The new Apple Watch will arrive on April 24th and the starting price is $349. Battery life is stated to be up to 18 hours with general usage – so charging everything is a definite and with heavy usage, it might not last all day.

The 38mm Sport edition starts at $349 with the 42mm jumping to $399. The standard  38mm edition starts at $549 and ends at a gob-smacking jaw dropping $1,049, with the 42mm including an extra $50 on each unit. Where not even getting started with the special Watch editions that range from $10,000 upwards. Those special few will be available from April 10th on wards.


Apple announce new thinner and lighter MacBook with USB Type-C


Apple have taken to the stage today to announce some new products. Something a lot of users have been eagerly awaited was a refreshed MacBook. The new MacBook has a 12-inch thin bezel display with 2,304 x 1,440 pixel resolution. The base model starts at $1,299 and will include an Intel 1.1Ghz Core M processor with 8GB of RAM. Storage starts at 256GB SSD. Stepping up a tier for $1,599 will get you a 1.2Ghz processor and 512GB SSD. Also just announced and inlcuded in the new MacBook is Apple’s Force Touch trackpad. The new pad removes all tactile feedback and gives the users a pressure sensitive pad.

While the upgrade hardware is a massive plus, the new design shares some of the new MacBooks praise. The laptop is now 40-percent thinner than the previous MacBook Air and weighs just .90Kg/2lbs. The laptop itself is ridiculously thin at 13.1mm. This requires the removal of any think connections, including USB. Apple have gone for the future here and are including a USB Type-C connection and thats it. The single USB Type-C will handle charging the device, display outputs, and standard USB connections with an adapter, which launches along side the new MacBook for $79.


OS X Yosemite now available to download

Apple today at their press event announced that their latest OS X Yosemite update would be available to download today. The update has already gone live, and is completely free. Users can check out the Mac App store and start update right away. The update brings a lot of design changes to the UI, but also brings Continuity support for the iPhone. This allows users to send and receive text messages and even make and receive calls on their Mac devices without the need of touching their actual iPhones. Effectively syncing the device together even more.


Apple announce new Mac Mini

Apple have finally given the Mac Mini an update. The latest version will include Intel’s latest Haswell offering as configuration options. Choices include Dual Core i5 CPU’s clocked at 1.4GHz, 2.6GHz, or 2.8GHz. There is also Dual-Core i7 clocked at 3.0GHz available with a turbo boost of 3.5GHz. The CPU options include either Intel Iris or HD Graphics 5000. The Mac Mini will also include PCIe Storage options, 2 x Thunderbolt connectors, and WiFI 802.11AC support.

Pricing for the new Mac Mini starts at $499 and beings shipping today.


27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display revealed

Apple took a lot of time for the new tablet announcements, but also brought a new iMac to the stage. The new 27-inch computer features what Apple are calling the Retina 5K display. Touting a resolution of 5,120 x 2,880, the display features 14.7 million pixels. That is 67-inch percent detail than a 4K display.

The hardware inside includes an Intel i5 3.5GHz Quad-Core or 4GHz i7 Quad-Core CPU. RAM starts at 8GB and can go up to 32GB. Storage starts at 1TB and can go up to a 3TB Fusion Drive and 1TB PCIe Flash storage. The insane resolutions are powered by the AMD Radeon M290X graphics card or users can choose the AMD R9 M295X instead. The base price for the new iMac starts at $2,499. The extra hardware options available can quickly increase that price depending on the configuration choice.


Apple’s iPad Mini 3 announced, pre-orders start 17th of October

The latest iPad’s have been announced. Apple took to the stage to announce their latests slates and the iPad Air 2 was the first to be announced. Apple also subtlely announced the iPad Mini 3 as well. It’s features include a 7.9-inch Retina display. 5MP iSight Camera with 1080p video recording support. A HD front facing camera (no word on specifics. The iPad mini now also features Touch ID support, with the fingerprint reader embedded in the home button like before.

Pre-orders for the tablet start tomorrow (17th of October) and pricing is set at $399/$429 for the 16GB WiFi/16GB WiFi + LTE, $499/$529 for the 64GB WiFi/64GB WiFi + LTE, and then Lastly $599/$729 for the 128GB WiFi/128GB WiFi + LTE tablet.


Apple announce iPad Air 2

Apple have taken to the stage for the latest press event. As usual, we have seen a lot of stats from the last 30 days after the launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, along with the release of iOS 8. However, more imporantly we finally got the announcement of the iPad Air 2. The new tablet features a 6.1mm thin design, making it the thinnest yet and the the worlds thinnest tablet available. Apple also included TouchID directly in the home button.

Inside houses the A8X processor, which is stated to provide 12 time more power than the original iPad. We also have the M8 chip inside, which combines accurate sensor information for developers to take advantage as they wish. Apple put a lot of focus on the 8MP iSight camera. The sensor has a f/2.4 aperture and features 1080p video, 43MP panoramic photos, burst mode, time lapse, slow-motion video and finally HDR photos and videos. The front facing camera will also support HDR video and single HDR photos, without the need of combing images together. It features an f/2.2 aperture.

Pre-orders for the iPad Air 2 start tomorrow on the 17 of October and the tablet ships next week. Pricing for the tablet has only be detailed for the US. The 16GB Wifi is $499 , 64GB WiFi is $599, and the 128GB Wifi is $699. There is also cellular models which cost $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 64GB, and finally $829 for the 128GB tablet.


iOS 8.0.2 now available for download. Fixes 8.0.1 issues

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

iOS 8 is still fresh of its heels, but the first update that was meant to bring some bug fixes, caused more issues. So let’s call this round two shall we. Below is a quick list of the bug fixes and changes in the new update. Those who are already running 8.0.1 should definitely update now, but those still running the original 8.0 should probably wait until the all clear before update, just in case something else goes awry.

Apple Smart Watch announced, arrives 2015

Besides the two new iPhones coming to market. Apple today have announced the new Apple Watch. Their foray into the wearable tech is stated by Apple to be their most personal device they have created. The watch will go toe in toe with iPhone 5 and above. The design of the watch stems directly from the iPhone, but clearly Apple wanted to keep a watch essence around. There will be to different size watches available, either with 38mm height, or 42mm height. The main screen is a square shape with Sapphire glass protecting the flexible Retina display itself. On the right we have a button and crown style rotary tool, which will be used for scrolling/zooming and more.

Software and naviation is fairly straight forward and willwork much the same way other smartwatches already on the market do. Users can check messages, answer/reject calls, call contacts and more. There will also be custom clock faces available, with third party app support as well.

Apple have also included some new tech in the display that allows it to distinguish between a tap and press, for a more robust navigation experience. Like other smartwatches, lifting it from your wrist up will activate the display automatically.

The watch also include Siri support and can be activate by simply raising your wrist and saying “Hey, Siri” or by just pressing and holding the Digital Crown button. Users can dictate messages, check your events, get direction. Pretty much anything you do with Siri now.

The back of the watch contains the heart-rate monitor, but also the MagSafe technology that allows for inductive charging. Magnets will pull the charger into alignment when put next to the back of the Watch, which means no trouble connecting a charge, bar having to take the watch off, obviously.

The Apple Watch arrives early 2015 and will come in prepritectery straps available for purchase as well. A stainless steel wrist band will be available as well. Pricing is set at $349.


Apple announce iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch display and iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5-inch Display

Apple’s press event is ongoing and first thing they did, (well.. not exactly the first thing, but close enough), is announce the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Both device will be running iOS 8, which arrives September 17th itself. First up the iPhone 6, which will include a 4.7-inch Retina display with 1,334 x 750 resolution. Coming in at just 6.9mm thick, the iPhone 6 will have more rounded sides and smoother curves for a better look and feel design. The smartphone will include the latest A8 processor, which is stated to be 25-percent faster and 50-percent more efficient than the previous A7 chip.

Apple are including an 8MP iSight camera with, 1.5-micron pixels, f/2.2 aperture and phase detection auto-focus. The camera also supports HDR photos, Video recording at 1080p @30fps/60fps  or slow-motion @240fps. Other specs include WiFi 802.11/b/g/n/ac and LTE 150Mbps, and finally NFC!. Apple have stated battery life is up 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of video and 10 days stand-by. The iPhone 6 will be available in Black, Gold, or White with pricing region/carrier specific, but nearly identical to last years iPhone 5S launch. Capacities come with 16Gb, but jump to either 64GB and the new 128GB. Pre-orders start the 12th of September with shipping on the 19th in some regions.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

The iPhone 6 Plus is their answer to users who want a bigger device. It includes a large 5.5-inch 1,920 x 1080 SRGB-accurate IPS display. The device comes in at just 7.1mm thick and will feature the same overall design as the standard iPhone 6 with rounded sides/corners. The same A8 processor as its smaller sibling is present. The 8MP iSight camera is mostly the same, but on the 6 Plus it includes OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). The only other difference spec wise is the battery life. The Plus will give you 24 hours talktime (3g), 14 hours of video playback, and 16 days standby.

The iPhone6 Plus will also come in Black, Gold, or White and pre-orders start on the 12th of September with it shipping on the 19th in some regions. Pricing is region/carrier specific, but expect it to come with a premium price tag.
