Lenovo to acquire Motorola Mobility business from Google for $2.91 Billion

googlemoto2

It’s official. Google is selling Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for just under $3 Billion. While Google will still hang onto most of the patents it got from purchasing Motorola in the first and as some will say the real reason why they bought Motorola, However they will be licensing them to Lenovo with the purchase. Effectively Lenovo are getting the actual business, along with the trademark and brand that is Motorola itself, and a license to all available patents under Motorola.

Lenovo is already a big name in the PC industry and with Motorola also being considered a titan as a brand in the mobile industry, it’s not that the Lenovo want to push into the mobile market and purchasing Motorola is not only a quick way, but a smart one.
