While 12-inch tablets are becoming more common, it seems Samsung wishes to disupt the adoption rate. Announcing the Galaxy View, Samsung are bringing to market a tablet with a 18.4-inch 1080p display. And yeah, it comes with a built in handle.
The design keeps a fairly standard overall Samsung look with plastic housing. It has a built in two-way stand which can be using to keep the device up right or slightly angled when on a table.
The tablet will feature a 1.6GHz Octa-Core processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage. We also get a MicroSD slot for expansion, although considering the size of the device, a regular SD card would have been a better choice.
Other specs include a 2.1MP front facing camera, Android 5.1, WiFI b/g/n/ac Dual-Band, Bluetooth 4.1, and finally a 11.3v 5,700mAh battery. Samsung have stated the device is aimed at video/entertainment and is made for streaming content.
“At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of Samsung’s IT & Mobile Business. “We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment.”
Pricing for the tablet is set at $599 and the portable TV arrives November 6th.
