Samsung and Google are sort of joining forces, but by that we mean they are licensing each others patents to one another for the next 10 years. Google and Samsung have a win win relationship with one another with Samsung dominated the Android market and Google of course the makers of Android, so obviously both companies realize that they need each other and by licensing patent to one another they can make patent disputes even harder and hopefully develop more off of each others own research.
