BIOS/UEFI
The motherboard includes MSI’s Click BIOS 4 which has a pretty flashy design and navigations is pretty easy. We’re going to take a quick look through some of the boards OC menu and features before moving on.
OC Simple
MSi have two different OC menus with either simple or advanced options available. The simple versions really does keep things simple with access to the obvious settings for a quick manual over clock, but changing to advanced is probably best to make sure you cover everything.
OC Advanced
Above we can see the advanced OC settings. This covers everything from Base Clock and Multiplier to DRAM and Voltage settings. Everything you need to overclock your CPU and more.
Board Explorer
MSI include a nice little board veiwer, which allows you to graphically highlight areas of the board and see exactly what is occupying it.
Above we can see the SATA and Back I/O ports and what devices are connected to each port. This is handy feature to have, in case you need to determine if something is connected correctly.
OC Genie
While we will be doing our own manual overclock for a testing. MSI do include a quick OC option as well. Dubbed the OC Genie, the board will automatically overclock your CPU a little to give you extra performance boost. Above is a quick screenshot of what it did to our 4770k. It basically pushing multiplier to 40 with a fixed ratio mode. Not a serious OC at all, but for anyone wishing to get a little extra performance, it’s not bad feature to have. It can be activated either through the BIOS or the hardware button on the board itself.
