Review: Samsung Galaxy SIII

Conclusion

So, now that we have gone through most of the aspects of the Galaxy S3, let’s now talk about each part and give a conclusion on each. We have photos of the device, photos taken with the device, benchmarks and gameplay. Let’s talk about what the Galaxy S3 really is.

Design

I’ll be honest, when looking at the device from photos. it’s actually hard to judge and that is really because when you see the device for real. You will instantly see how beautiful it is and when you hold it, you will know that is a great device. It just feels well-built and solid in the hand. It’s an extremely slim and the overall feel of the device is perfect. It’s exactly what you would expect from a high-end device.

Screen

The 4.8 inch 1280 x 720 AMOLED display is nothing but stunning and is beautiful to look at. It is in fact one of if not the most beautiful displays I have ever seen. Now since it’s a Pentile screen people are expected to see issues, but I can 100% guarantee you that at this resolution none of them are present and the Galaxy S3 screen is simply a masterpiece.

TouchWiz

The great thing about Android is that if you don’t like the default launcher then you do not have to use it as there are many third-party launchers available and some even bring stock ICS features to you. That being said TouchWiz from Samsung on the Galaxy S3 is actually pretty nice and very smooth to use. There was no lag or stutter at all and that could be said for the entire device. It’s layout is similar to previous versions of  TouchWiz with the change mainly focused on widgets and icons. They have also changed the look and feel of the dial pad which is a welcomed adjustment.

Camera

There really isn’t much to say about the camera other than it’s the best we have seen on a smart phone. The photos and video are just full of amazing quality and this is in every scene. Just looking and the pictures you wouldn’t think they were taken by a smart phone and it’s no doubt the time we can feel comfortable taken pictures on a phone for any occasion. The videos look crisp, colourful and sharp. Focusing is done very quality and you also have the option to manually focus during recording as well.

Features

The Galaxy S3 has S-Voice, which is simply a voice assistant meant to give you extra control over your device simply by using your voice. It has been done before and of course Samsung’s implementation is actually pretty good. S-voice works really well and doesn’t really have much trouble understanding my or anyone voice. It’s functionality is rather limited at the moment, but that could easily change over the coming months.

Pop-Up play basically picture in picture where it gives you the ability to navigate the phone and still watch a video at the same time. This actually works perfectly, but I could imagine it better suited on a tablet rather than a phone due to screen size. That being said, it does work perfectly and there may be the few that could use it.

Performance

It’s easy to lay this one out flat. It’s the fastest device on the market. The Exynos Quad-core that powers the Galaxy S3 is nothing short of a real processor and it seriously nails everything we could throw at it. There is absolutely not performance issues in terms of lag or slowness at all.

This includes game play and the Galaxy S3 had no issues playing the most graphical intensive games available and here is the interesting part, we could still play 1080p video using pop-up play while playing the game. This is some serious performance and the Galaxy S3 didn’t even hiccup during it.

Taken everything into account, there is seriously only one way to describe this device and that is the fact it is not only the best Android device on the market but also the best smart phone on the market.

It of course get’s the Gold award for best everything and that is a first.

There is not that many things that we can review that really have no short comings, but to honest. the only issue with the Galaxy S3 is that it’s not cheaper. It currently costs around €650 upwards for the smallest model. That being said, if you want the best you will have to pay for it, but that really applies to everything.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is nothing short of a spectacular device and it’s a pleasure to use all around. It’s performance and long-lasting battery is a comb of which best smartphones are made and it is easily the best smartphone because of this. The fact they also include the best camera and some other nice features to play with like smart stay and S-Voice is just icing on the cake.
