Review: Samsung Galaxy SIII

Samsung have just release their newest device and it is the successor to Galaxy SII, Which is easily considered the best Android device made. Now Samsung are planing on topping that with the Galaxy SIII. So let’s not waste anytime and take a look at the specs of the new flagship device from Samsung.

  • 4.8 inch AMOLED with 1280 x 720p resolution
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 2
  • Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 Processor(Exynos 4212 Quad Chipset)
  • Mali-400MP GPU
  • 8MP Camera with Autofocus, LED Flash,
  • 1080p video recording
  • 1.9MP Front facing camera with 720p recording
  • 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities
  • MicroSD Slot
  • GLONASS GPS
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • WiFi B/G/N
  • 2100mAh
  • 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm
  • 133 g

Now those are some serious specs and it’s no doubt that Samsung are aiming high with those specs. The fact that there is only one other smart phone on the market using a quad-core chip and that would be the HTC One X which uses a Tegra 3 processor is also an impressive point worth making.

Now let’s take a look at the device it’s self in some nice photos.

The bottom of the device we have the physical home button and the capacitive menu and back buttons to the left and right of the home button. At the end of the device we have the Micro USB  connection. This is MHL and USB on the go active. So you can connect your device to a HDMI display or connect up either a mouse or USB flash drive. The MHL connection requires a new adaptor and previous MHL adaptors will not work. We also have the mic located on the bottom of the device.

The top of the device we have Samsung logo, sensors and the front facing 1.9MP camera with 720p recording. The top head of the device we have the opening for the back cover and of course the 3.5mm headphone jack. The noise cancelling mic is also located on the top of the device.

The power button is neatly located on the right side of the device for easy access.

The left side of the device we have the volume buttons.

The back of the device has another Samsung logo. The 8MP camera with LED flash and near by the speaker. Only one word can describe this device. Beautiful. It’s a stunning device to look at and the best part is that it also feels fantastic. It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. It just feels well-built and easy to hold. The device weighs only 133g after and that includes a 2100mAh battery. The dimensions for the device are 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 m. This makes it a very slim device and it’s only 1mm thicker than it’s predecessor the Galaxy s2 and only 4.5mm wider and the fact it has a 0.5″ bigger display at 4.8″ Samsung have clearly done some amazing work to bring a nice big display on the device and still keep its overall size down.
