Samsung launching Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo this April

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2
Mobile World Congress isn’t yet in full motion, but none the less we have a pretty big announcement coming in already from Samsung, who will be launching their new Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Gear 2 Neo smart watches. The two new wearable devices from Samsung will share near identical specs with each other with the main difference being the Neo will lack the 2MP camera, which supports 1080p still images and 720p@30fps video. The only other difference is of course the dimensions with the Galaxy Gear 2 coming it at  36.9 x 58.4 x 10 mm and 68g and the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo coming in at 37.9 x 58.8 x 10 mm and 55g.

The rest of the specs are the same with both smart watches and start with a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display with 320 x 320 resolution along with a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. Connectivity wise we have Bluetooth 4.0 LE for paring with your smartphone/tablet and an infrared emitter. The devices like the previous Galaxy Gear have a built in gyroscope and accelerometer, but Samsung are also including a heart rate sensor this time around. Both the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are IP67 certified for dust and water resistance as well. Both smart watches will be running a version of the Tizen OS rather than a version of Google’s Android. We have included a gallery of both of the devices below and hope to have more information about them as we get closer to their release which is set for around April with pricing to still be announced.
