Nokia back in January announced their new Nokia 6 smartphone running Android OS, which saw their first relaunch into the smartphone market under a new company called HMD. The Nokia 6 at the time however was only destined for launch for a region specific launch, but now at MWC 2017, Nokia are launching the device along with 2 others globally.
Nokia 6
Starting from the top, the already known Nokia 6 features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Snapdragon 430 chipset octa-core Cortex-A53 at 1.4GHz and Adreno 505 graphics. 3GB’s of RAM with 32GB’s of storage (4GB/64GB on Arte Black edition) and MicroSD slot for expanding.
Design wise, the phone is crafted from a single block of 6000 series aluminium, and will come in Matte Black, Silver, Tempered Blue and Copper ,with the Arte Black limited edition being sold as the higher model with 4GB’s of RAM and 64GB storage. Measurements come in at 154 x 75.8 x 8.4 mm and the devices weights 169g.
Camera on the rear is 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size. It also includes Dual tone flash and phase detection focus. On the front we have an 8MP shooter with f/2.0, 1.12µm and 84° field of view. Other specs for the phone include 3,000mAh battery, Stereo speakers, Fingerprint reader, and lastly the device is running Android 7.1. Pricing for the Nokia 6 is set at €230, with the Arte Black edition costing €300.
Nokia 5
The Nokia 5 is a lower class device that features a 5.2-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. It uses the same Snapdragon 430 chipset from Qualcomm as the Nokia 6, but has less ram at 2GB’s, with storage also taking a drop from 32 to 16GB (MicroSD slot avaialble). The rear shooter is a 13MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size, with phase detection focus and dual-tone flash.
Design is again all sharpen from Aluminium with the entire body crafted out of a single block of 6000 series aluminium. Even with the device being aimed at mid-range and lower, Nokia are still looking to bring an elegant design and feel to the smartphone. Measurements for the device are 149.7 x 72.5 x 8 mm.
The rear camera is an 8MP sensor with the same f/2.0 and 1.12µm aperture/pixel size, but has an 84° FoV. Battery size is a nice large 3,000mAh and the device also features a fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 5 will sent you back around €190
Nokia 3
The Nokia 3 brings us a 5-inch IPS display with 720p resolution. Processing is handled by the MediaTek MT 6737 chipset with quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.3GHz, and uses 2GB’s of RAM. Storage is 16GB with a MicroSD slot for expanding.
Another single piece of aluminium is used for the body of the phone, but this time it’s not 6000 series. It will be available in Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue and Copper White. Messurements for the device are 143.4 x 71.4 x 8.5 mm.
The camera also takes a drop down to an 8MP sensor on both the front and back, with an f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size, with a single LED flash on the front. The Nokia 3 looses the fingerprint reader, battery capacity is 2,650mAh. Pricing for the Nokia 3 will be around €140
Release
The Nokia 6 launches right away, with the Nokia 5 and 3 arriving Q2 2017. All devices are running Android 7, with Nokia 6/5 running 7.1.1 and the Nokai 3 running Android 7.0. All version of Android will be vanilla/untouched Android. Each phone will include Dual-Sim support with dual standby, with the Nokia 6 being sold with dual sim as standard.
