iD Mobile Ireland enters provisional liquidation

Dixon Carphone owned iD Mobile Ireland has been placed into provisional liquidation after failing to secure a buyer for the company over the past 12 months.

The MVNO network was created in 2015 by Carphone Warehouse, who are owned by the Dixon Carphone company. The network was aimed at providing better control over your bills by allowing for more custom based tariffs, which users good adjust to their liking.

“Despite a compelling consumer mobile proposition in an increasingly competitive mobile market, iD Mobile was unable to achieve scale against established operators and its losses became unsustainable. A statement from iD regarding the closure of the vritual mobile network.

Furthermore “Interest from several potential buyers of the business was explored over a period of more than 12 months. However, a suitable buyer with the resources required to make the MVNO a success could not be found and reluctantly a decision was taken to close iD Mobile in Ireland.”

Customer will begin to be notified by text message regarding the closure of the company; with 30 days of service remaining, with the official service end date for iD Mobile on April 6th 2018.

Bill pay customers are stated to not receive any more bills from the 6th of March, and pay-as-you-go customers given the final 30 days to use up their remaining credit. Customers are also free to move network immediately as well.
