ARM unveil quad core Cortex-A15 chip

ARM have just unveiled there latest quad core processor. This quad core CPU is on the Cortex-A15 28nm architecture, the chip is also boasted to have the clocks speeds of up to 2GHz. ARM have stated that the new chips will have a hard macro design. This means that specifications on each chip will be fixed instead of allowing them to be tweaked by the OEMs. The reason ARM are taking this approach is to allow them to implement the chips faster as well has cut down on power usages.

More details on the chip are expected tomorrow at the IEEE symposium in Japan. ARM believe the newest chip will hopefully ship late 2012 or early 2013, This means we can hopefully expect cheaper quad core devices by next year.
