Sony have announced that ending February 8th they have officially already sold over 5 million console worldwide (5.3 to be exact). The news comes in before their launch of their own country Japan which is in just a few days on the 22nd. Sony have had a pretty large lead against the Xbox One since launch, but they’ve hit the 5 million milestone first and since the Xbox One has yet to reach it, it does show the PS4 has an even more extensive lead over the Xbox One in console sales.
