Sony announce Project Morpheus, officially bringing virtual reality to the PS4

GDC 2014 has kicked off, and Sony have just finished up their panel and with it have announced Project Morpheus and so the rumours are over. Sony are bringing a virtual reality headset to the PS4. While Sony have detailed a lot about the virtual reality headset and the fact they have been working on this project for the past three years, even with the PS3, however it’s still in prototype form, however it will also be used as the development kit for eager developers looking to bring their games to the VR world with the PS4.

Currently the dev kit specs include 1080p resolution, complete 3D sound, and a 90+ degree viewing angle. The VR headset will support head tracking at 1000hz with full 360 degrees movement. Pricing and release details have yet to be shared, however Sony have stated it will be released as soon as possible, for as low as possible, so take from that what you will.
