Samsung’s MWC press conference is still undeway, but of course the next Galaxy device is the announcement, both of them actually. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are those devices. There is a lot to talk about, so let’s first check out the design info on the new smartphones.
First up, we have two devices to talk about, and of course the S6 Edge like the Note edge feautres a curved display; this time on both sides of the device. The normal S6 includes a standard flat display, but mostly the same design, speaking of which Samsung have gone for a complete aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back of the device. This of course means no removable battery or MicroSD slot, which we can see being a massive disappointment for some users.
The display is of course slightly different on both devices, but size and resolution is actually the same with the phones sporting a 5.1 inch quad HD Super AMOLED display. Inside we have the latest Octacore chipset from Samsung with quad core 2.1GHz processor and quad core 1.5GHz. We also have 3GB of RAM as well. The CPU is built on 14nm technology and includes 64-bit support. Samsung also put some emphasis on networking with both phones including LTE Cat 6 support as standard.
Camera wise we have a 16MP shooter with OIS and an f/1.9 lens. Front facing camera features a 5MP sensor with larger aperture for better low light shots compared to the previous S5 and Note 4.
Availability for the new S6 and S6 Edge is set for April 10th in 20 countries, with more regions to follow over the weeks and months following the main launch. The phones will come in multiple colours including Gold, Black, White, and Green.
