The box is nearly identical to all other Asus graphic cards, obviously with the details being different. Overall Asus always give a nice presentation with their product and the fact they keep to the same design mean you know what you are getting.
The back of the box details specific features of the card, features like the DirectCUII cooler which is stated to be 20% cooler and 14dB quieter than reference coolers. Also not to forget the VGA hotwire feature that allows you to monitor and increase the voltages on the Vcore, Vmem and PLL when using the card with Asus ROG motherboards.
Again, we can see the presentation is identical to previous Asus graphics cards and here we have the typical Asus logo on the black box.
The card is housed safely and covered in an anti static bag.
It wouldn’t be an Asus product if it didn’t come with at least some accessories and this card is no different. It comes with a 2×6 pin to 8 pin adaptor, a cross fire cable, DVI to HDMI adaptor and an LN2 Mos Heatsink.
The card itself, it looks neatly identical to other triple slot DirectCUII cards, there is nothing wrong with that as it’s a beautiful design.
As this is a DirectCUII card, it has the two 100mm fans that run with a low RPM. So it is because of huge heat sink and low RPM fans that this card has great overclocking ability and still remain very quiet.
The back of the card is covered with a metal plate as an added way to dispense heat, but also because it makes the card look even more bad ass.
Another reason the HD7970 DirectCUII is an amazing card is the fact it has 2 x DVI(1 single link and 1 dual link) and 4 x Display Port(3 if using dual link dvi) connections. This allows you to have up to 6 monitors in an eyefinity setup. This amount of monitors on one card alone is nothing short of impressive.
