Microsoft purchase of the hardware side of Nokia’s business is finally complete with the Department of Justice giving their decision yesterday and the EU finally giving their approval today. The deal worth around $7.35 billion gives Microsoft their own smartphone business at a hardware level and not just from the software side of things. A quick break down of the deal shows $5 billion is for Nokia’s mobile division and the other $2.18 billion is a license fee for Nokia’s extensive patent portfolio. Now that the Microsoft and Nokia merger/deal/buyout/purchase is complete, Microsoft will of course be concentrating on their next CEO.
