Google’s next big Android update has gotten some fresh details during Googles big I/O event this year. Google had a lot of announcements this year, and since their now producing even more products: we’re looking at even more and more announcements each year.
First up Google are promising to bring faster boot times and less battery drain to smartphones. The increased boot time was stated to decrease the boot time on their Pixel smartphone by 50-percent. However, other smartphones in the future may not get such improvements or drastic decrease in booting times.
Android O will also have a new way of showing you notifications by way of the new Notification Dots. Anytime a specific app has a new alert, it will contain a dot on the app icon itself, and holding on the icon will bring up the notification right above the app in a small window.
Lastly another neat feature is Smart Text Selection, where the OS will intelligently allow for quick copy and paste by selecting text based on context i.e an address, phone number, or email. Whats more, when selecting the text, the pop up menu will display contextual options such as a link for maps when selecting an address or phone app when selecting numbers.
Most of the above features and more are avaialble to try out with the new Beta for Android O avaialble today.
