The big Oculus Rift pre-order has finally arrived, and with it we finally have the price tag and first availability dates. The headset including the sensors and Xbox One controller will set you back a pretty steep $599 or €700. Anyone who jumped on the pre-order when it launched will have their units ship this March, with others having to wait until April, and now pre-ordering shows a shipping date of May or later.
Any of the original Kickstarter backers as announced will be getting the unit completely free of charge, and considering the consumer unit costs a good bit more than the Kickstarter originally did, it’s save to say there are a lot of happy campers out there.
