HTC have officially announced the latest HTC One, bringing a new flagship to the market, with all of the awards behind last years flagship, the new flagship has to offer a lot to prove itself. First off the new HTC One(M8) has no real new name other than its actual model number which is M8, but still rather goes by the HTC One, we’re guessing people we refer to it as the HTC One 2014 to avoid confusion of the last model.
The HTC One continues like its predecessor with a complete metal uni body with smooth machined finish and is said to offer a more natural grip. The smartphone now sports a full 5-inch display with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution (440ppi).HTC of course included the BoomSound stereo speakers on the front of the device and are 25-percent louder than the previous HTC One. Inside the device we have the latest from Qualcomm with the Snapdragon 801 chipset running a quad-core 2.3GHz CPU with 2GB of RAM. Storage includes 16/32GB options and this time around HTC have included a MicroSD Slot, which means you can expand up to 128GB of storage. Battery is a non user replaceable with 2600 mAh capacity.
HTC went a different direction with regards to camera technology in the previous HTC One and they have done it again this time around, sort of..
The Duo Camera features a main HTC UltraPixel sensor as well as a depth sensor, the purpose here is to capture detailed depth information and allow the user to alter the focus after the image has been changed using UFocus, as well as other creative adjustmnets. HTC have also detailed that the camera autofocus operates at 300mseconds. The camera also includes dual LED Flash and 1080p video recording support. HTC also included a 5MP front facing camera with wide angle lens.
Software wise the device is running the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat with Sense 6 available as an upgrade right out of the box and brings a more personalized user experience. The M8 includes Motion Launch which which uses the built-in sensors to allow you to answer phone calls, activate the lock screen without touch the display. The HTC One includes a lot more like the new Zoe, Blinkfeed and more, but it’s those will be explained better in the full review.
The new HTC One (M8) is already available for pre-order and comes in Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold and official launch is set for April 3rd.
