Samsung Galaxy Note 8 announced, arrives September 15th

Samsung have unveiled the Galaxy Note 8, the latest device from Samsung’s flagship series, and most notably after the two recalls their previous Note 7 received last year.

This year Samsung are of course going to make sure the device has no chance of exhibiting the same issue as late year, so we don’t imagine hearing recalls this time around.

The new device will of course stem most of its specs and design from the Galaxy S8+ from a few months ago. We have a Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back; edge display on the sides, with rounded corners for a more impressive feel. Samsung are continuing their minimal bezel design.

inside we have the same Exynos 8895 with octa-core CPU (4 x 2nd-gen Mongoose 2.3GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.7GHz) and Mali-G71 GPU. Their is also the Snapdragon 835 version that will launch in the US and some other markets with octa-core CPU (4 x 2.35GHz Kryo 280 & 4 x 1.9GHz ) and Adreno 540 GPU. Both versions will include 6GB#s of RAM as standard, which is what the top edition of the S8+ received in South Korea, over the 4GB’s most units had.

The infinity display continues, and this time around we have a barely larger 6.3″ AMOLED display with 2,960 x 1,440p resolution and 18.5:9 (2.06:1) aspect ratio: again, much like the S8+, just slightly larger, and we have noticed the corners are sharper.

Camera wise sees Samsung take the jump to a dual sensor setup. We have a 12MP 1/2.55″ sensor with f/1.7 aperture and 26mm focal length. The second sensor has 12MP 1/3.4″ sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 52mm focal length. This gives a sort of faux zoom for better quality photos at a distance; something we have seen before.

Other specs includes Bluetooth 5, WiFi a/b/g/n/ac. GPS, Beidou, Galileo, and NFC. We also have a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm jack and slightly smaller battery compared to the S8+ at 3,300mAh vs 3,500mAh; We guess that S-Pen needs space somewhere. The device will come with 64GB’s of internal storage space, with a MicroSD slot avaialble for expansion.

Finally, of course, it wouldn’t be a Note series with an S-Pen, and not much/if anything has changed over the technology inside compared to the short lived Note 7.

The new Note 8 arrives on September 15th and pre-orders start on August 24th for the Midnight Black and Orchid Gray, with  Maple Gold and Deep Sea Blue arriving later.
