Review: Socket 2011 Intel Core i7 3960x, Intel x79 Chipset

AID64

Running AID64 to get a benchmark using its different instructions set to give an idea of the performance of the 3960x

Memory Test

You can easily see where AID64 is taking advantage of the full bandwidth here. The latency came in at 57.5 ns, This is a great result, but really shines more for the ram then the processor as the latency wouldn’t be any quicker or slower.

CPU Performance test

Now, these are the results we were hoping for. This sets the 3960x high above everything else. This is ultimately where Intel have set their goal and for that they have released a power house of a processor that beast everything that came before it. The reason for the new socket 2011 was for the extreme sandy bridge processors and that is exactly right.

Here we can see off the chart performance by the 3960x and with a score of 11.24 on stock, you can just here Intel patting themselves on the back.
