Above is our test setup and below are the test scenarios for the MSI X99 SLI Plus. We do a straight run through with nothing but stock settings. Then we have the overclock testing. We detail the setting we used below.

Stock/Auto: 3.5GHz/2,133MHz

As we said above, the stock settings are without touching anything bar the booting options.

Overclocked: 4.4GHz/2,666MHz

While running through our overclocking possibilities; we were able to get our 5960x up to 4.4GHz with 1.350v. This is a leap in volts required compared to are Rampage V Extreme, but we’re still pleased by getting our 5960x running at 4.4GHz. We could have possibly gotten the volts down some with more tweaked, but we’re happy being 100-percent stable. An issue we ran into was trying to get our RAM to overclock to 2,800MHZ as we did with the Rampage V Extreme. Simply put, we couldn’t go past the 2,666MHz. This may have been due to the base clock changing from 100MHz to 125MHz for the extra RAM speed, as such we were stuck using 100MHz base clock. So we have 4.4GHz @ 1.350V and the RAM running at 2,666MHz.
