Review: HTC One X

Camera (Photos)

The camera on the HTC One X is a again 8 Megapixels as the same with its brother the One S, it also has auto focus and of course an led flash. The device can also record in full 1080p.

The camera app has a similar layout to most camera apps and again has features seen before. Let’s take a look at the options it has.

The buttons for taken both photos and videos are always displays. So there is no need to switch between the two. If you wish to take a video just hit the record button and if you wish to take a picture then just hit photo button. This is fantastic and I wish to see this more and HTC are pros for introducing it. There is also the ability to take pictures while recording or playing back a recorded video, now they are the same resolution as the video but this is a nice feature to have.

The settings are pretty basic and the layout is for both the photos and video as there is no switching between the two. There is the image adjustments and this allows you to alter the exposure levels, contrast, saturation and sharpness. You can change the ISO level from 100, 200, 400 and 800. The camera has face detection, auto capture when a smile is detected. The camera app is easy to use and has a nice overall layout with some adjustments the user can make.
We also have effects and filters, these are accessible by the blue orb on the top right of the camera app. There are a number of effects to choose from like Distortion, Vignette, Depth of Field, Dots, Mono, Country, Vintage, Vintage warm, Vintage cold, Grayscale, Sepia, Negative, Solarize, Posterize and Aqua. There are loads to choose from and a few of them are even adjustment by pointing touch on where you want the effect to happen.
Let’s take a look at some sample shots taken with the HTC One X.

The camera has the ability to record in full 1080p and you can also refocus and zoom in during the recording. Let’s take a look at a quick video.

  1. Cannot compare the video with that of the S3 as this is taken in a low light situation, pity this video was not taken near the river during the day so we could compare like with like

    1. I Will take another video in a similar fashion and update the review. It’s always good to have similar videos. I normally do, Will have it updated shortly.
