The aim is to offer a simple, convenient way of keeping your device secure and without the need of entering your password every time.

Let’s first take a closer look at the device itself.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1450010119571-780baa61-dcb4-2″ include=”15923,15925,15924″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15926″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The package includes the USB wireless adaptor, the gatekeeper dongle, two batteries, and a key ring holder.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1450010312692-65cca65f-92d3-10″ include=”15928,15929″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”15927″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Software

The software setup is pretty straight forward, so let’s jump into what steps are needed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1451866070578-6266504a-d6de-1″ include=”16029,16032″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Setup involves running the software, and holding the dongle to the USB key and waiting a few seconds for it to sync. Once syncing is complete you will need to input your computers username and password.

That’s pretty much it, your good to go from there.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width=”6″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1451867164791-62228465-9c65-2″ include=”16030,16031″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Once you have finished setup you will have only a few options that you can adjust.

The first is to change the locking distance ranging between far and near. This allows you to fine tune when the computer locks depending on your distance to it. So if you wish to have the device lock just after you leave the room, you can push the meter all to far. If you wish for it to lock when you move a few feet away, then select closer to near.

The other options determine whether the computer will auto unlock when you return.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Conclusion

We have spent month or so with the GateKeeper, and are ready to share our thoughts and conclusion on the device.

The GateKeeper concept is not new, but offers a simple way of bringing this type of security and convenience to the market for anyone who is conscious of security.

The security aspect is two fold. While having your device auto-lock/unlock is the more important aspect of the device, not having to input your password every time you return keeps your password more secure.

You can even go ahead and make it a lot more complex, as you won’t need to keep entering it. So the GateKeeper is a win-win when it comes to security.

The auto-lock/unlock aspect has a little bit of tuning; allowing for you to control how far/close the the dongle needs to be to enact security measures. Having the device lock when set more to close proximity did cause a few random locks, but simply extending the the meter to far allowed us to have a smooth experience.

Ultimately the GateKeeper does exactly what is advertise. It offers security with convenience, and we don’t need to tell you that’s the best kind. The more convenient it is to enact security the more established it becomes.

The only other issue we had with the GateKeeper was the pricing, which was a little steep. Thankfully GKChain have now released a newer version, which offers more accurate sensor for better ranging (our only real issue) and the pricing is $49.99, with decent deals on multiple purchases.

Anyone looking for the convenience to auto-lock/unlock their computer by the presence alone should definitely want to pick up the GateKeeper from GKChain. It offers great security with ease and best of all, it actually works!

We award the GateKeeper from GKChain with Gold and recommend it for anyone looking to make security more convenient.
