Review: Asus 3GB 7970 DirectCUII graphics card

Gaming

Okay, so you buy a graphics you are obviously aiming for gaming and so let’s check out some games performance on the Asus 3GB 7970. Now the fun part begins and since this is one of the most powerful single core graphics cards on the market all our tests will be done in both 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 resolutions and we are basically going to set each game to their maximum settings to see how the card handles at these resolutions.

Crysis 2

First up we are going to take a look at Crysis 2 which is a very graphic intensive game. We are going to test it in a few different scenarios, so take a look at the results below.

[easychart type=”horizbar” height=”40″ title=”Crysis 2(max settings) 1920 x 1080″ groupnames=”Minimum, Average, Maximum  ” groupcolors=”A3A3A3,0070C0,00CC00″ valuenames=”Results in FPS(Higher is better)” group1values=”32″ group2values=”62″ group3values=”119″] [easychart type=”horizbar” height=”40″ title=”Crysis 2(max settings) 2560 x 1440p” groupnames=”Minimum, Average, Maximum  ” groupcolors=”A3A3A3,0070C0,00CC00″ valuenames=”Results in FPS(Higher is better)” group1values=”28″ group2values=”52″ group3values=”79″]

The card handles Crysis 2 @ 1080 with flying colours with max settings. Since this is a 3GB card it can also handle higher resolutions and as we can see at max settings and nearly double the resolution as 1080p the game is more than playable and the card proves to handles itself with a very intensive game.
