Review: Noctua NH-L12 low-profile cooler

Conclusion

Now, while the results aren’t close to that of the NH-d14, or H100. Let’s keep in mind that the L12 is less than half the size of the D14 and also keep in mind that it does this with one 92mm fans and a 120mm fans. I really can’t tell if the results are because of the focus flow fan or because Noctua included some magic this time but to see those kind of results on a low profile is baffling to say the least. Simply put it’s incredible. There really is some smart people working of at Noctua and they know what they are doing. Everything little details matters and they really do make sure that all there products perform to the best of there own standards. For that they are the kings of heatsinks.

There is a little negative side to the L12. The heatsink will be directly over dimm slots for most motherboards. The rampage IV extreme was no exception and two ram slots were covered by the heatsink. Now there was no issue fitting G.skill ram. There may be issue fitting other ram that has high heat fins. This shouldn’t affect most people as again the heatsink isn’t designed to be used this way, but at the end of the day, nearly all heatsinks have issues with ram heat fins and that must always be taken into consideration. Just make sure to do your research.

The negative is only small and again straight up the Noctua NH-L12 gets a gold award because I will be honest, this heatsink is designed for low form factor computers but can handle a high end processor, meaning you will get silence and small size all for a great price of €50 that could handle a 3960x. Noctua killed it again with the L12 and should be proud of there yet again gold receiving product.
