Review: Asus ROG Rampage V Extreme X99 Motherboard

PC Mark and 3D Mark

Rampage V Extreme PC Mark 8

PC Mark 8 includes a lot of tests, but we aimed to use the top three, which are more general tests. Here we can see the 4770k takes the lead due to its higher clock speeds – which the results here tend to favour. The 5960x overclock results don’t see much gain for general applications here, but they do still take the lead with Home and Creative tests.

Rampage V Extreme 3D Mark

The 3D mark results are with each setup using an R9 290X MSI Gaming Edition graphics card. As with games, the performance isn’t really affected by your processor all that much. It’s doubtful an 8 core CPU will have any real effect on gaming performance over a 4 core, but the extra lanes will be a benefit to multi GPU setups. We do see the 5960x top the charts with both tests, but it does add over 500 points over the 4770k.

3D Mark Fire Stirke Crossfire results

We don’t have a comparison chart for the Crossfire results, but we included them for anyone to gauge the performance of 2 x MSI R9 290x Gaming Edition graphics cards with a 5960x on the Rampage V Extreme motherboard.
