Oculus suspending sale of Dev Kits due to component shortage

Oculus-Rift-1
The Oculus rift has been in the lime light as a real step towards fully immersive gaming or in other words virtual reality gaming. The Oculus Rift dev kits have been available for sometime now so developers can get their hands on them and of course develop future titles and software for the device or include support in their current games. The sad news today is that Oculus posted on Reddit that they are running short on available dev kits as further manufacturing has come to a halt. This is due to certain components no longer being manufactured and while Oculus are looking into alternate sources for the needed components, it will be some time before they can start manufacturing Oculus Rift dev kits again.

While Oculus still have some stock available, the remaining stock will only be available in the following countries, also they have stated on Reddit that they have a reserve for RMA’s as well, so those afraid of not being able to get a replacement should sometime go wrong, need not worry too much.

  • United States
  • Canada
  • Countries in the European Union
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Australia
  • Switzerland
  • Norway
